Joby advances urban air mobility — and Miami could be next
Joby Aviation has completed a piloted electric air taxi flight across the San Francisco Bay, demonstrating real-world operational capability in one of the most complex and congested environments in the U.S.
The milestone is part of its 2026 Electric Skies Tour, as the company moves closer to certification and initial commercial operations. Joby has already been selected for multiple U.S. integration programs and is preparing to launch services across several states.
What makes this especially relevant is the long-term vision: transforming urban mobility by turning hours in traffic into minutes in the air.
Cities like Miami, with high congestion, strong international connectivity, and a growing demand for efficient transportation, are natural candidates for early adoption of this technology. As innovation accelerates, the question is no longer if urban air mobility will become part of everyday travel—but how soon it will reshape the way we move between cities and within them.
